Celestino 'Tino' Zeraschi

Continuing the theme of promoting local business. Today I met with Celestino 'Tino' Zeraschi. Tino has worked on Barry Island since leaving school in the mid seventies, he came to Barry on the 1st of march 1967 with his family from the Cynon Valley, and settled into a home at Woodlands Rd. He is one of 5 siblings, all bar one of which are current traders on Barry Island. The Family all live locally and are very close. The family always had the ethos of hard work probably bred into them by great parents, who are now sadly missed . Nevertheless the next generation are now involved, and are now continuing on with the family businesses which by the way was originally started by his grandfather nearly 100 years ago. The grandfather opened a cafe in Penrhiewceiber in 1926 the year of the general strike. He became a naturalised Citizen along with Tino's father in the 1930's. Tino is the first member of the Zeraschi Family to be documented in a 'Year in Barry' I look forward to adding to this Family's story and to their outstanding contribution to the Community of Barry in future updates.
